Insights in Motion with P/Twain
As NeurAstra’s innovative arm, P/Twain will drive forward-thinking collaborations with institutions and key players in the space industry, fostering impactful partnerships to transform bold ideas into actionable solutions.
We are also happy to announce that ones of P/Twain’s first collaboration of 2025, will be with HeroX and NASA for a Human Factors consulting project.
This initiative, titled South Pole Safety: Designing the NASA Lunar Rescue System, focuses on developing innovative solutions to ensure astronaut safety during emergencies in the extreme environment of the Moon’s South Pole. This project addresses the unique challenges of designing a comprehensive rescue system for lunar missions, incorporating human-centred design principles and cutting-edge research in human factors.
Annual Meeting at Casa Comet
NeurAstra’s New Year Celebration
and Annual Meeting Review in the Pyrenees
Place: Meritxell, Andorra
Date: 17.01.2025 (11:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
Open to: NeurAstra members
ABOUT THE EVENT
On January 17, 2025, the NeurAstra team will gather near our headquarters, in Andorra, at Casa Comet, to celebrate the start of the new year and conduct our annual review. This special event brings together our Andorran and Spanish branch alongside our National Point of Contact (NPoC) to reflect on achievements, discuss future initiatives, and strengthen our shared vision for the year ahead.
We look forward to kicking off 2025 with enthusiasm, collaboration, and a renewed commitment to our mission!
Cosmic Connections II
Place: Menthon-Saint-Bernard, France
Date: 11.10.2024 (9:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
Modalities: In-person
Language: English
Open to: Public
“Cosmic Connections — Bridging the Gap between Space Radiation and Space Exploration” is our second in-person event. It will be the occasion to celebrate NeurAstra’s anniversary and delve into the concept of space exploration through the lens of deep space’s main risk factor: space radiation.
(please note: there will be no online version of this event.)
AT A GLANCE
From cosmic rays originating from distant stars to solar particle events emanating from the Sun, the diverse sources of space radiation represent a formidable challenge for space travellers and the future of space exploration. This event will serve as a forum to discuss and shed light on the complex nature of space radiation, emphasising its origins, composition, and effects on human health.
WHO CAN ATTEND IT
Researchers and anyone interested in space exploration, space physiology, and physics.
NAEP-I Gathering at CERN
NeurAstra’s Educational Programme
—Feynman Promotion Annual Celebration
Place: Meyrin, Switzerland
Date: 20.08.2024 (10:00 AM – 01:00 PM)
Open to: NeurAstra Research Fellows (NAEP)
ABOUT THE EVENT
To celebrate the hard work and commitment of the Research Fellows of the NeurAstra Educational Programme (NAEP First Edition 2024/2025—Feynman Promotion), we gathered to visit together the centre of particles discovery at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, located at Meyrin, near Geneva on the French-Swiss border. CERN is home to the famous Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world’s most powerful particle accelerator, where scientists probe the fundamental forces and particles that constitute the universe.
Annual Meeting at L’Observatoire
NeurAstra’s Annual Meeting in the Genevois
Place: Mont-Salève, France
Date: 11.08.2024 (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Open to: NeurAstra members
ABOUT THE EVENT
On August 11, the NeurAstra team will gather at L'Observatoire on the summit of Mont-Salève for a special meeting with our French and Swiss teams. This event will provide an opportunity to reflect on our organisation, review ongoing projects, and strategise for the future.
Set against the breathtaking Alpine backdrop, the gathering will celebrate cross-border collaboration, our shared mission—and, of course, a delicious degustation of blueberry pies.
Cosmic Connections I
Place: Alp, Spain
Date: 19.01.2024 (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Modalities: In-person / Online
Language: English
Open to: Public
“Cosmic Connections — Life Without Gravity” is our first social event to be held in person in Alp, Spain. The event is thought to explore the fascinating world of organisms’ evolution under gravity and the implications of altered gravity fields for the future of space exploration.
AT A GLANCE
Research conducted in microgravity conditions, both in space and using analogue environments on Earth, has provided critical insights into the physiological and biological effects of reduced gravity on various organisms, including humans. This research is essential for understanding the challenges of long-duration space travel and developing countermeasures to ensure the health and safety of space travellers. It also brings precious information about life evolution and adaptation on Earth.
WHO CAN ATTEND IT
Researchers and anyone interested in biology, space exploration, and space physiology.
