From 2025 to 2026
A Year of Discovery, Learning, and Expansion

CHRONICLE

From the mountains of Andorra to the volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote, from underground caves to architectural marvels, NeurAstra had a busy year:

  • 8 new Cassini Tours were organised to explore heritage sites and innovation across Europe,
  • 3 major programmes were launched to advance experiential research,
  • 2 field expeditions tested human adaptability and team dynamics in extreme environments,
  • 2 educational workshops hosted by NeurAstra brought together explorers and young space enthusiasts,
  • 10 books/1 year dedicated to Jules Verne with The Dog-Ear Club,
  • and more than 50 new books and assets joined our library thanks to a generous donation from Z-Library!

Here are some highlights from this year’s standout initiatives:

Cassini Tours

Eight Journeys Through Heritage and Innovation

Throughout 2025, we embarked on curated Cassini Tours, each offering a unique window into the intersection of human creativity, engineering prowess, and cultural heritage. From underground dwellings to architectural masterpieces, from industrial heritage to spiritual sanctuaries, these expeditions revealed diverse stories of human ingenuity:

Currents of Innovation: Tracing Andorra's Electric Legacy
MW Museo de la Electricidad / Camino Hidroeléctrico de Engolasters, Encamp/Escaldes-Engordany, Andorra

Meritxell: The Modernity of Faith
Basílica Santuario de Meritxell, Meritxell, Andorra

Beneath the Surface
Cuevas de Paterna, Paterna, Spain

A Journey Through Geometry and Light
Muralla Roja, Calpe, Spain

Inside the Paccard Bell Foundry
Fonderie Paccard, Sevrier, France

The Story of a Sweet Tradition
Museo del Turrón y el Chocolate, Agramunt, Spain

Llorts Iron Mine Exploration
Mina de Llorts / Ruta del Ferro, Llorts, Ordino, Andorra

The Ideal Palace of Postman Cheval
Palais idéal, Hauterives, France

Voices of Spacefarers

Designing Space for Humans, With Humans

The launch and development of Voices of Spacefarers created a platform for sharing the experiences and perspectives of those who have ventured beyond Earth's atmosphere. This programme provides unique insights into human space exploration, bridging the gap between the general public and the extraordinary individuals who have witnessed our planet from orbit and beyond.

HAPTICA TERRA
Exploring the Tactile Connection Between Humans and Environments

Haptica Terra emerged as an initiative, successfully securing grant funding to pursue innovative research in tactile experience and environmental engagement. This programme investigates how haptic interactions shape our understanding of landscapes and natural environments, opening new avenues for sensory-based learning and accessibility in field research.

NeurAstra Educational Programme (NAEP)
— Educational Research Programme

“Any man could, if he were so inclined,
be the sculptor of his own brain.”

Santiago Ramón y Cajal

The launch of NAEP II brought together international students in a comprehensive educational experience. Building upon the success of the inaugural Feynman Promotion, this programme expanded our global reach whilst fostering cross-cultural exchange and collaborative learning, establishing NeurAstra as a hub for students seeking innovative approaches to education and research.

We are also thrilled to announce the launch of our second edition in 2025: the Cajal Promotion.

Analogue Training & Navigational Skills (ANTS)
— Excursion in the Andorran and Spanish Pyrenees

The ATNS-I project represents NeurAstra’s first field study exploring human adaptability in mountain and high-altitude environments, focusing on cognitive performance, physiological responses, and team cohesion under environmental stress. Conducted in the Andorran and Spanish Pyrenees, the project aimed to address the challenges faced in isolated, confined, and extreme (ICE) environments, drawing parallels to space missions. Using Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) tools and wearable devices, we gathered real-time data that provided interesting insights, laying the groundwork for deeper investigations in future ATNS projects.
